 |
Retail Pricing
- Pellets have remained relatively stable as energy costs from other sources have risen
- Retail pricing (pickup or bagged product) provided substantial savings in 2005
- Savings vs. other fuels were 28 - 44%, which is often over $1,000 year for consumers

| Wholesale Fuel Costs ($/million BTU) |
 |
Wholesale Pricing
- Bagged wholesale pellet costs have historically exceeded fuel costs of other commodities
- But if you exclude the direct costs of packaging (dashed line), pellets last year were a cheaper source sof fuel that propane, heating oil and even crude oil
- Where natural gas is available, it can still be a cheaper source of heat than pellets
