Current Policies Are Counter-Productive
Biomass suffers under existing statues:
- Ethanol subsidies drive up cost of corn, making use of corn for heating less economical for homeowners and businesses
- Renewable Energy Credits for biomass electricity generation drive up the cost of wood supplies, making heating with wood pellets less competitive
- Biomass heating fuels are actually TAXED in some states, including all of California and portions of New York
